🧩 Overview
Whether you're working with an independent photographer, collecting student photos from parents, or preparing your own portrait images, using the recommended image specifications helps ensure consistent sizing and optimal print quality in your yearbook. The guidelines below outline the recommended portrait dimensions, resolution, and file format for use in Creator Studio.
For best results when preparing portrait images for use in Creator Studio, use the following specifications:
- Recommended image size: 640 × 800 pixels
- Aspect ratio: 4:5
- Resolution: 300 DPI
- Color profile: RGB
- File format: JPEG
All portrait images in the same portrait set should use the same aspect ratio.
These specifications follow the recommended portrait format used for PSPA-style yearbook portrait files.
📷 Using Photos From an Independent Photographer
If your school is using an independent photographer, or creating portrait images outside of a traditional school photography service, provide these specifications to the photographer before images are prepared.
Whenever possible, schools should request a PSPA-formatted portrait package, which includes both the portrait images and the student data needed to organize and flow portraits into the yearbook.
💡 Individual or Parent-Supplied Photos
If an individual portrait is being supplied separately, use a high-quality image and avoid enlarging a small or low-resolution photo to meet the recommended dimensions. Enlarging a low-quality source image will not improve its print quality.
