📑Overview

Yes. You can design yearbook pages and covers outside of Creator Studio using programs such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, or Canva.

Creator Studio provides templates and guidelines to help ensure externally designed files use the correct dimensions, bleed, safe zones, and cover specifications. Once your design is complete, export it as a supported image format and upload it into your project.

Because cover dimensions can change based on book size, cover type, and page count, always use the correct template before beginning your design.

📐 Adobe InDesign

InDesign templates are available for download here.

When working with the templates, pay close attention to the:

  • Bleed line
  • Crop or wrap zone
  • Safe margin zone
  • Spine area on cover templates

📄 Page Template

Cover Template:

When your design is complete:

  1. Export each page as a PNG file at 300 DPI.
  2. Upload the exported images into the appropriate section of your project.
  3. Locate the files in the Media tray.
  4. Place each image onto its corresponding page as a background.

🖼️ Adobe Photoshop

Photoshop templates are available for download here.

⚠️ Remove the Guides Layer

Before flattening and exporting your design, delete the layer marked Guides.

The guides are provided for design reference and should not appear in the finished file.

💾 Export Settings

Save each completed page as an individual:

  • PNG or JPG
  • sRGB image

There is a 100 MB file-size limit when uploading images into Creator Studio.

Saving files as 8-bit rather than 16-bit can help reduce file size.

⬆️ Uploading Your Pages

After exporting:

  1. Open your yearbook project.
  2. Upload the images into the appropriate section.
  3. Locate them in the Media tray.
  4. Place each image onto its corresponding page as a background.

Images created using the provided templates are sized to fit their designated pages.

🟦 Canva

Canva templates are available for download here.

To maintain the correct document dimensions and resolution, we recommend:

  1. Exporting the completed Canva design as PDF Print.
  2. Converting the exported PDF into a JPG or PNG.
  3. Uploading the converted image into Creator Studio.
  4. Placing it onto the appropriate page as a background.

📕 Important Information About Cover Templates

Photoshop, InDesign, and Canva cover templates are sized according to page-count intervals.

As the number of pages in your book changes, the required spine width also changes.

Before downloading and designing with a cover template, make sure you know the expected page count of your book.

🎨 Alternative Cover Artwork Method

You can also export individual pieces of your cover artwork separately and upload them into Creator Studio.

This allows you to position each element directly within the application instead of relying on a completed full-cover image.

📚 Text on the Yearbook Spine

Creator Studio supports spine text on:

  • All hardcover yearbooks
  • Softcover yearbooks with 70 pages or more

The spine area is identified by two vertical dashed lines.

As pages are added to or removed from the yearbook, the width of this spine area automatically adjusts.

⚠️ Custom Spine Text Created Outside Creator Studio

If spine text is created as part of a custom image in Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, or another design program, its placement cannot be guaranteed to remain centered during production.

Spine width varies based on:

  • Book size
  • Cover type
  • Page count

Custom image-based spine text can be used at the customer's own risk. Contact your Client Success Specialist for additional information. as book title) on the spine of all hardcover yearbooks (and on softcover books of 70 pages or more).

As you add/remove pages to the yearbook, the width of the spine zone (identified with two vertical dashed lines) will automatically adjust.

If you choose to create your spine text with custom images (created in Photoshop or InDesign), we cannot guarantee that the text will be centered in production. The spine size varies depending on the book size, cover type and page count. Customers can choose to do this at their own risk. Please contact your Client Success Specialist for more information.
