๐Ÿ“˜ Overview

This guide explains how to design yearbook pages and covers in Canva and prepare files so they upload successfully into Creator Studio Pro.

Following these instructions helps prevent:

  • upload failures
  • missing pages
  • file size errors

๐Ÿ“ฅ Canva Templates

Templates are pre-sized to match Creator Studio Pro page dimensions and should always be used when available.

๐Ÿงญ Document Setup Best Practices

When designing in Canva:

Use template dimensions exactly as provided

Do not resize canvas after starting

Keep text inside safe margins

Extend backgrounds fully to edges for full-bleed designs

๐Ÿ“ค Recommended Export Format

Always export as:

PDF Print

This format preserves:

correct dimensions

sharp images

300 DPI resolution

๐Ÿชœ Export Steps

Open your design.

Click Share โ†’ Download.

Choose PDF Print.

Download.

๐Ÿ“„ Page vs Spread Exports

For best results, export single pages instead of spreads.

Spreads:

contain more data

are larger files

exceed limits more often

Use spreads only if file size stays within limits.

๐Ÿงช Resolution Guidelines

Export at 300 DPI

Higher DPI:

does not improve print quality

increases file size

may cause upload failure

โฌ†๏ธ Uploading into Creator Studio Pro

After exporting:

โœ” Files 16 MB or smaller upload normally
โš  Files over 16 MB may fail to process

โš™๏ธ How PDF Uploads Work

When a PDF is uploaded, Creator Studio Pro converts it into an image during processing.

This can increase file size because:

PDF compression is removed

the file becomes a full image

If the converted file exceeds limits, it may fail to appear.

This usually happens when:

spreads are uploaded

images are very high resolution

many photos are used

export quality is excessive

๐Ÿ›  Converting Large Files Before Upload

๐ŸŽ Mac Preview

Open PDF

File โ†’ Export

Choose JPG or PNG

Set resolution to 300 DPI

๐Ÿงฐ Photoshop or InDesign

Open file

Export as JPG or PNG

Set to 300 DPI

๐Ÿ“ธ Screenshot Placeholder โ€” Export dialog

โœ… Best Practices Summary

For the most reliable uploads:

โœ” Export as PDF Print
โœ” Use single pages
โœ” Keep resolution at 300 DPI
โœ” Keep files under 16 MB
โœ” Avoid unnecessary image scaling
